Transportaion and Canoes:

Transportation

Travel was very important to the Wendat people, because they often had to follow their food, across the lands where the animals would go. They used canoes to travel. Rivers, valleys, oceans, and lakes were the highways for them.

Canoes

In summer, the Wendat used canoes to travel over water routes, while walking over the land, they used tumpline, and traveled also on foot. Most of the canoes were made up birch bark and elm bark. The tumpline could be used in the winter too.

Land-Form

The Wendat people think that autumn is the time that has beautiful colors. All of the maple leaves, birch, and trees get red and gold. All the oranges and pumpkins. When the Huron gets snow, they think that the sow is always very deep.

There were steep mountains that would surround the Wendat’s land. Since the women would do al the farming, the men would travel and would hunt for food. Mountains, plateaus, hills and plains are all types of land forms. Some of the valleys were formed by streams and rivers that cut through higher land. The Wendat land has many ways to live. All the Wendat people have to respect all ling things in their land.
